Volunteer Party Reminder - This Thursday

A quick reminder for our 2014 volunteers: the Volunteer Appreciation party is this Thursday! Don't forget to bring your own chair as well as a jacket, it looks like temps will be in the upper 60's during the party.

Time: 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
- 5:00 pm Happy Hour
- 6:00 pm Dinner
- 7:00 pm Awards

BBQ Dinner, soda, water, wine and beer will be available courtesy of the DRRA.

- Results from Bayfair

The Bayfair race in San Diego was won by J. Michael Kelly in the U-1 Graham Trucking. Jimmy Shane in the U-6 Oberto finished first on the water but received a one lap penalty for bearing out on JMK on lap four. Second place went to Sterling Heights' own Cal Phipps in the U-7 Graham Trucking II and third place to Mike Webster in the U-22 Big 5 Sporting Goods. Congrats to all!

- Steve David named as H1 Unlimited Chairman

H1 Unlimited's 10-year Chairman, Sam Cole, has stepped down from that position. In his place, Steve David has been named as interim Chairman.

David, 60, retired at the conclusion of the 2013 season after a 25-year racing career. He is a past American Power Boat Association (APBA) President from 1996-98, and Vice President from 1992-96.

Don't Forget: An August Gold Cup in 2015

That's right, the 2015 Gold Cup will be held August 21st - 23rd.

There are two main reasons for the date change. One is that many fans are out of town so close to July 4th, and the other is so that we can again host the Grand Prix hydroplanes which have a conflicting event on the second weekend in July.

The Grand Prix's are the biggest and fastest hydroplanes under the Unlimiteds and are very competitive. Powered by big-block V-8's with superchargers, they will bring a lot of thunder to the D! See the Grand Prix Hydroplane site:
